Scripture as Gift

Reflection on Psalm 19:7-‬14:

Scripture is not a set of rules. Rather, it points us to Jesus, the Life-giver, thereby showing the way of restoration to a life with no seeds of death in it. But no matter how far along we are toward Christlikeness or how close our walk with Jesus, there are always areas within our lives as persons that need to learn God and his ways. There are always areas within our life as God’s covenant people where we need to revisit his instructions to love him, love people, and teach others to do the same. Part of this revisiting is learning God’s heart–that he is love, and love is a set of actions and not an emotional response. Imitating him by loving him begins through our offerings of praise, the fruit of lips giving thanks. We love him by continually seeking our identity, rest, and purpose in him alone. We love him by seeking to understand our choices in light of his character and by living in ways that open us to his blessings.
