God is ultimate in moral goodness and is of one substance and will. Moral goodness takes action and is characterized by excellence. It does not rest on its laurels, and it is not niceness but active goodness. God’s holiness, his moral goodness, is a unified action of the one God, Father, Son, and Spirit, for he is one divine substance in three persons. He has one divine will, one capacity to decide and act through diligent purposefulness.
Our God works within us through our kind and concerned action, development of capacities, and knowledge of blunt reality to make us like himself in purity and unity. As we love one another through kind and concerned action, God forms us as people of active goodness, not just warm emotions. He works within our training activities to develop our capacities so we might be proficient in our ministry assignments. He illuminates the meaning and significance of the truth in both of his books (Scripture and Creation) to help us learn blunt reality and remove rosy blinders.
