Imaging Manifold Glory

Key Idea: The church’s unity and diversity constitute her created oneness, which functions as one earthly, kaleidoscopic reflection of God’s excellence and splendor through a communal worship stance that respectfully declares God through the varying sundries of life and full-range expression of trust-belief.

The church’s unity and diversity constitute her created oneness, grounded in a shared center of unity and a beautiful variety of diversity. Without unity, oneness is just a collection. Without diversity, oneness is just a mass. All of this is needed to reflect God’s manifold glory properly.

The church’s created oneness is one earthly, kaleidoscopic reflection of God’s excellence and splendor. Together, believers display God before others, revealing his singular splendor and overwhelming brightness in lives of trust-belief.

The church’s intentional diversity reflects the full spectrum of God’s excellence and range of variations, not as divisions but as dispersions of his glory. When diversity joins unity, the worship stance is an earthly, temporal display of God’s manifold, many-gloried splendor.

Lives of worship are a kaleidoscopic reflection that respectfully declares God in the context of life. It honors him by placing him first in believers’ attitudes and actions, showing behavioral respect that goes well beyond words.
